Cuba , lying on a long and exuberant virgin coral reef, is nowadays an undersea paradise for diving lovers. This archipelago, surrounded by colorful water is a joy for the visitor's eyes. Fascination increase if you dive into its warm and see its underwater environment.

Cuba surrounding water is also famous for its quietness, due to its light tides and the lack of strong currents; for its warmth, keeping a temperature over 24 grades C (75grades F) the whole year, and for its virginity due to the lack of pollution and its well preserved bottoms, so the horizontal medium visibility is 30 meters (98 fee) and, above all, for its diverse underwater fauna and flora and the total absence of aggressive animals, therefore, the Cuban coral reef the best preserved ecosystem in the country.

The Cuban coral reef has an underwater lace shape around the whole archipelago, its formed mainly by more 50 coral species with a remarkable growth, thus forming real rocky structures resembling giant brain or magnificent castles; others grow with extended branches seeking the surface or with a plain shape as if they were real beach umbrellas. All these are shelter and support for other sea species.

In the coral reef you can see more than 200 cup-shape, pipe or branch shape, magnificent gorgonians and see fans dancing on the waves, curiously growing sea weed, color changing species like octopus and squids or the queen conch, king helmets or tritons inside their precious pearl shell.

There are also black and white sea urchins with sharp sting, sea stars, polychaetes that quickly hide their amazing breathing structure from the diver's inquisitive eye and well known crustaceans such as lobsters and crabs.

Within all this sunken tropical garden, countless colorful fish represented by more than 500 species, moving fast in search of food, shelter or simply a mate, among them you can find docile groupers that can be easily fed, different kinds of snappers, stingrays bidden in the sand and groups of colorful eagle rays swimming gracefully. Morays carefully guarding their bidden place, different kinds of sharks, from those as harmless as the nurse shark, the magnificent whale shark and the famous bull shark to practice shark feeding. Sometimes you can have the privilege to find the mystical manatee, intelligent dolphins or the huge manta ray.
